Privacy Policy for Unrich
Last updated: 18 October 2026. This policy describes the macOS version of Unrich distributed through the Mac App Store.
1. Controller and data protection officer
The controller is coneno GmbH, Trippstadter Str. 122, 67663 Kaiserslautern, Germany. Managing Director: Marco Hirsch. Phone: +49 631 627991-0. Email: info@coneno.com.
Our data protection officer is Katja Schneider, coneno GmbH, Trippstadter Str. 122, 67663 Kaiserslautern, Germany. Email: privacy@coneno.com.
2. Data on your Mac
Unrich stores your notes, boards and settings locally on your Mac; coneno has no access to them. When cleanup changes pasted text, Unrich may keep the original with the note. Notes that have been in Trash for more than 30 days are deleted the next time Unrich starts; you can empty Trash sooner. Text you export is saved where you choose.
Unrich reads the clipboard when you paste or capture, and while its window has focus to show what you could add. This preview stays in memory; clipboard text is saved only when you add it. While text is treated as a Secret, it stays in memory only until it expires or you quit the app. This applies to text you paste as a Secret and, if Detect passwords is on, to text that a password manager marks as concealed.
Optionally, you can turn on a double tap of the Option key in Settings to add the clipboard from any app. This needs macOS Input Monitoring permission, which Unrich uses only to recognise that gesture; it does not record or transmit what you type. Without the permission, the capture shortcut and menu actions still work.
macOS features such as Time Machine and Universal Clipboard may copy this data to backups or to your other Apple devices, depending on your system settings.
3. No data collection
The Mac App Store version requires no account and sends no notes, clipboard contents or settings to coneno or to third parties. It contains no analytics, advertising, tracking or automatic crash reporting. Updates are delivered through the Mac App Store; Apple processes your purchase and download data under Apple's privacy policy.
4. Contact and support email
If you email us, for example at support@coneno.com or info@coneno.com, we process your email address, your message and any attachments to answer your request. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR for contract-related requests and Article 6(1)(f) GDPR for other support and correspondence. We use Microsoft Exchange Online, part of Microsoft 365, to provide our email service. Microsoft may process or access email data outside the EU/EEA under applicable data protection safeguards. We keep correspondence as long as needed for your request and for statutory retention duties. Please do not send note content unless it is necessary for your request.
5. Website
Links in the app, such as to this policy, open in your browser. For server logs and other processing on our website, see the coneno website privacy policy.
6. Your rights
Under the GDPR you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability, and you may object to processing. Contact privacy@coneno.com. You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit Rheinland-Pfalz. Content stored only on your Mac cannot be viewed or deleted by coneno unless you send it to us.
